BAHIA: SALVADOR AND MORRO DE SÃO PAULO

Salvador, also considered the “Black Rome”, the first brazilian capital and birthplace of african culture: the historical downtown UNESCO HERITAGE, religious tradition between sacred and profane, many rich musical rithyms and the paradise island of Morro de são Paulo.

DAY 1 - (Beginning of the tour – Salvador)

Arrival and meeting your guide at the Salvador de Bahia Airport and transfer to the hotel in Itapua, an old fisher village that became very touristic.

DAY 2 – (city tour)

City tour in Salvador (with private car and English guide) to visit the lower town, passing through all the coast way until the Barra lighthouse, arriving to the port zone Ribeira with the Bonfim church (the mystical symbol), the Montserrat Fort, the São Joaquim market (typical african market). Heading now to the upper town and arriving to the Pelourinho (the city historical heritage), we´ll gonna walk through the narrow streets enjoying the art of the most important churches (included the entrance in the São Francisco golden church). In the end of the afternoon, return to the hotel.

If this day is tuesday, possibly night visit to the streets of Pelourinho to follow the religious procession of “Terça da Bença” (Tuesday of the blessing) and a mess at the church and a great african band playing in the streets where everybody dance.

DAY 3 - (Excursion north coast)

Excursion to the north coast in a private car along the coast until Praia do Forte (1:30 hour trip) that features the wonderful natural pools (and we can swim in its crystal waters) and the important sea turtles preservation program. Before getting into the hotel we visit the hippie village of Arembepe (destination of famous singers of the 70s) and we can admire the local handcrafts.

DAY 4 - (Morro de São Paulo)

Early in the morning we´ll gonna take the transfer to the port and the catamaran boat to the Morro de São Paulo island (2:30 hour trip). This island is part of the archipalago Tinhare, located in the “Costa do Dende” (south of Salvador), considered the Pearl of the Bahia´s coast. Free afternoon at the beach.

DAY 5 - (Morro de São Paulo)

All day long on the beach. You can walk around the beaches or get a tour boat (not included) to snorkel in the crystal water of the marvelous coral reef and see the different kinds of fishes. Also a tour boat to the island of Boipeba (not included) can be done.

DAY 6 - (Itaparica – Salvador)

Free morning on the beach. In the afernoon we´ll gonna leave this island on a boat (public) to the Ponta do Curral (15 min) and then by car (not private) we´ll gonna get to Itaparica Island and on a ferry boat (40 minutes) we´ll come back to Salvador to our Itapua Hotel by not private transfer. By night you can walk around by yourselves, taste the acaraje in the Cira Square or enjoy a wonderful and typical restaurant and drink a beer or our brazilian caipirinha. (live music on weekends).

DAY 7 - (Salvador – end of the trip)

Free day where you can enjoy the beach or visit some sightseeings like “Farol de Itapua” (Itapua lighthouse), monument to Vinicius de Moraes (Bossa Nova singer), Lagoa do Abaete (Abaete lagoon) and appreciate the sunset on the beach. End of the day with transfer to the airport for the return flight.

From Salvador we fly to Ilheus where we begin to ride the Cocoa Coast with their exuberant vegetation and deserted beaches, also visiting the famous village of Itacare and the Marau peninsula

From Salvador we fly to Porto Seguro, the most touristic city of Bahia State, we´ll gonna visit the old town and the beach beside it, Araial da Ajuda, separted by a river. The following days many optional tours can be done (like the Trancoso Village) or just enjoy the beach and the restaurants by the sea.
