8 days – 7 nights

A tour in South of Brazil, through the mountains where, during the winter, temperatures drop below zero: immense prairies, majestic canyons, spectacular waterfalls, the gastronomy and traditions of European migration at the basis of the culture of this region

DAY 1 – Beginning of the tour – Catarinense Mountains/ Urubici

In the morning arrival in Florianópolis (capital of the state of Santa Catarina) and reception of our staff: departure, along the state road (3/4 hours of travel with a short stop for lunch not included) to reach the mountainous region of Serra Catarinense, considered the “coldest” region of Brazil, during which in winter the temperatures drop below zero (and sometimes it even snows). Arrival in the pretty town of Urubici (1000 meters above sea level) and after checking in at the hotel, with a short walk through the woods (15 minutes) we will reach the base of the Avencal Waterfall: at the end of the afternoon we will reach the top of Morro do Campestre, from where we´ll watch a spectacular sunset, admiring the 360º panorama.
In the evening dinner (not included) in a typical restaurant in town, with a wide choice of craft beer and wine of its own production

DAY 2 – Serra Catarinense/Bom Jardim da Serra

In the morning excursion to the Morro da Igreja park, where, with a walk (optional) of 8 km total (round trip), we will reach rock Pedra Furada (1,800 meters). After lunch (not included), departure to go around the steep walls of the plateau and then go up along a spectacular panoramic road until reaching the Mirante della Serra do Rio Rastro, from where we could have a breathtaking view of the valley. Arrival in the small town of Bom Jardim da Serra (1,300 meters above sea level) with accommodation in a Rural Pousada surrounded by nature. Free evening

DAY 3 – Serra Gaucha/Cambará do Sul

Departure along the state road between the mountains to reach (3/4 hours of travel) the Serra Gaucha (in the state of Rio Grande do Sul) where, with a short walk, we will reach the top of the Fortaleza Canyon and from which we can appreciate a breathtaking landscape. At the end of the afternoon transfer to Cambará do Sul with accommodation in a small rural Pousada / Fazenda nestled on the edge of a small lake.
In the evening dinner (not included) can be in a typical restaurant  that offers grilled cockerel and the wide selection of trout

DAY 4 – Serra Gaucha / Cambará do Sul

Free morning to enjoy the silence of the surrounding nature with possible short walk (even on horseback optional and not included) to visit an enchanting waterfall immersed in the woods: at lunch (on request and not included) you can taste a “parillada” (barbecue)  before the entrance of the Canyon do Itaimbezinho Park (although not the largest, it is considered the most spectacular Brazilian Canyon), where, through a soft walk, we could admire the deep valley and its impressive walls. At the end of the day, transfer to an isolated Rural Pousada surrounded by the plateau grasslands, where we could also have dinner (not included) in a characteristic mountain landscape.
If it`s a wish of the travelers, the overnight stay can also be continued in the same structure of the previous day.

DAY 5 - Serra Gaucha / Bento Gonçalves

Departure along an dirt road  (3/4 hours travel) through a typical mountain landscape, to reach some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the region (Cachoeira dos Venancios and Cachoeira Grande), and then the town of Bento Gonçalvez, wine capital of Brazil and home of the descendants of Italian immigration: accommodation in a Pousada / winery, with a panoramic view of the Dos Amores Waterfall

DAY 6 – Vale dos Vinhedos / Gramado

In the morning we run across along the Wine Route with some tasting stops among the numerous wine cellars of the region (90% of the total national production), until we reach the town of Garibaldi from where, after lunch (not included), we will continue until arriving in Gramado, considered the “Brazilian Switzerland” for its strong architectural and gastronomic influence of the European Alpine region.
In the evening we may enjoy a delicious meat and cheese fondue (dinner not included) in one of the many charming restaurants in the center and stroll along the “Rua Coberta” (covered pedestrian street) drinking a delicious hot chocolate with cream

DAY 7 – Canela / Gramado

In the morning city tour with a visit to the Colonial Market (where you can buy hams, cheeses, grappa, etc.) and to a chocolat factory (traditional product), for then, along an off road way, to reach an internal region where being able to visit some lakes and dams immersed in the vegetation (along the way it is possible to have lunch tasting a delicious lake trout fished at the moment). In the evening, short visit to the nearby town of Canela (famous for its cathedral) and dinner (included) in a typical restaurant with a “gauchos” representation of folkloric music and dance

DAY 8 – Porto Alegre – end of the trip

In the morning, transfer (2 hours trip) to Porto Alegre airport (capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul) for the return flight. End of services

Santa Catarina

From Florianopolis transfer to Bombinhas, located on a fascinating cape along the Costa Verde & Sea. The next day we will discover the most beautiful coves and beaches of the region and then reach the wild locality of Praia do Rosa, on the Whale Coast: with a pleasant walk we will know the main beaches and from the top of the hills near the sea, with luck,  we will to be able to appreciate the whales that, during the period end of August / October, from the icy waters of Patagonia migrate along the southern Brazilian coast, to give birth and wean own puppies.
Before reaching the Serra Catarinense (as per day 1 of the program), we will a short stop in the town of Laguna (where Anita Garibaldi was born) and the imposing Santa Marta Lighthouse
